Honor Magic 6 Pro to conquer Europe with a pompous periscope camera
Last year's Honor Magic 5 Pro scored with powerful hardware and a first-class camera. Its successor has now been unveiled internationally. The model upgrade looks very promising.
On the occasion of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Honor presents its flagship model Magic 6 Pro for the international market. The smartphone stands out with its extremely large camera module and stylish design. Among other things, the Honor Magic 6 Pro has a 180-megapixel zoom camera. With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the phone is positioned in the current high-end range.

Design and display: little new, a lot tried and tested
The design of the Magic 6 Pro differs only minimally from its predecessor. At 16.3 × 7.6 × 0.9 cm, the mobile is extremely thin. It weighs just under 230 grams. The housing is well protected against external influences: Thanks to IP68 certification, a dive in fresh water to a depth of 1.5 metres will not harm the smartphone.

Other than that, you get the usual connections and buttons, such as USB-C and volume control. In addition to the fingerprint sensor, the built-in infrared transmitter is also practical. This is no longer common in all smartphones.
Honour continues to rely on the curved version of the AMOLED display. It measures 6.8 inches and is therefore the same size as its predecessor. The resolution is 2800 × 1280 pixels. The refresh rate is between 1 and 120 Hertz. This saves the battery, for example with static content, where 1 rather than 120 Hertz is required. The savings may then be needed for the brightness of the display. This is 1600 nits.
Hardware and software: powerful chip and artificial intelligence
Honour has opted for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip from Qualcomm and is therefore state of the art. The battery holds a generous 5600mAh. The predecessor had 5100mAh. The battery can be charged via USB-C with 80 watts. Up to 66 watts are possible wirelessly.

The Magic 6 Pro comes with Android 14 and the customised MagicOS 8.0 user interface. Like many current smartphone manufacturers, Honor is riding the AI wave and presented some smart features at the keynote. For example, the home screen is supposed to adapt to your preferences. The phone will also be operable via eye tracking. If you look at an app for a certain amount of time, it will open.

Honour has not skimped on the camera features. At least not on paper. The manufacturer promises better sensors, for example. This should enable sharper images even in low light. I will of course test this in more detail during an evening shoot. Here are the specifications in advance:

Price and availability: little colour
The Honor Magic 6 Pro is available in classic black or in corrugated green with a gold edge on the camera module. It will be available with 512 gigabytes (GB) of internal memory and 12 GB of RAM from 1 March. You can pre-order it now.
