Oppo Find N2 Flip: More possibilities on the outdoor display
Oppo's latest software update gives the flip phone two new functions for its external display. It is now possible to listen to music and record voice messages when the phone is closed.
The Oppo Find N2 Flip's external display is nice to look at, but so far it has only had a few options. This was a major point of criticism in my review of the smartphone.
Now Oppo has added a software update for the first time. Communication has been improved. Until now, you could respond to messages on the external display in two ways. Either with an emoji. Or with predefined short replies. This is quite limited. You can now also reply with speech-to-text. This means you can chat the message to your smartphone. This is then played back as text. All apps with a short reply function support this option, including Whatsapp, Telegram and Messenger. Swiss dialect is excluded here, but it works well in High German.
The second improvement concerns listening to music with Spotify. The app can now be used as a small music player on the external display. The last song you listened to in your current playlist is displayed. If you swipe upwards, you can choose one of your last six playlists. And add a heart to your favourites.
Oppo wants to bring even more functions to the external display. The two new features are the first step. Oppo guarantees a four-year term for the software updates.
