Pixel 8: Google invites you to the keynote and shows off the smartphone
Google is not in the mood for leaks and is already showing the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro in its invitations to the launch on 4 October.
At 4 pm our time on Wednesday, 4 October, Google will unveil the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro as well as the Pixel Watch 2. The manufacturer has shown the devices in several invitation videos and has already created a landing page in the online store. Visually, there are few changes. Google has already focussed on software innovations in recent years.
Google focuses on software
Google hardly showed any specifications at the last Pixel keynotes. These were then shown in the Google Store. The events focussed on new functions and improvements to the software. Where does artificial intelligence help in everyday life? How can photos be made even better? How can the interaction between different devices be improved? And so on.
So it should be easy for Google to show off the new devices in advance. Especially when the differences to the predecessor model only become apparent on closer inspection. The camera bar remains and only the positioning of the lenses, sensors and LED light reveals that it is not the Pixel 7. The colours remain pastel.

A smartwatch and headphones can also be seen. Google already explicitly mentions the Pixel Watch 2 in the online store. No new headphones yet, but the time would be ripe for successors to the Pixel Buds.
Side effect of the early announcement: People will get to see the Pixel 8 (Pro) and Pixel Watch 2 before Apple unveils the iPhone 15 on 12 September. According to the overlays in the videos, Google will not start its pre-sales until 4 October.
