Tissot: This smartwatch is a Swiss alternative
With the T-Touch Connect Sport, Tissot has perfected the mix of classic quartz watch and additional digital features. And with months of battery life. Unfortunately, one important function is missing.
The Swiss watch manufacturer is not just building another smartwatch with an Android operating system. Instead, it is creating its very own blend: not quite as smart, but with a classic watch look.
The new T-Touch Connect Sport has a quartz movement with real hands. At first glance, the small Amoled touchscreen in the lower half of the dial is barely visible. If you press the button on the side, the hands turn elegantly upwards out of the way and the screen lights up. You can now swipe through the applications, see the pedometer, calendar, calories burned, notifications, calls, stopwatch with lap times or a timer.
Compared to its predecessor, the T-Touch Connect Solar, which is still available, the new Tissot is more compact with a 43 millimetre dial and has a heart rate monitor for the first time. This means you can now also keep track of your sporting activities and fitness. These can also be started directly via the screen. GPS is missing, so the watch relies on the help of a smartphone.

Noble materials, but no wireless payment
In the app, you will find analyses of the training sessions and the measured data. However, you cannot share these with other fitness apps. What is also missing: The T-Touch Connect Sport cannot be used to pay wirelessly via NFC. This is particularly unfortunate because the parent company Swatch already uses this technology in its affordable Swatch watches.
Unfortunately, the new watch is not cheap. It starts at 945 francs, with a titanium bracelet it costs 1045 francs. You can't yet order the watch from our online shop, but our buyers are working on making it available.

The price is certainly also related to the materials used. The case is made of titanium, the bezel of ceramic. And the glass above the dial is sapphire crystal. The watch is water-resistant to 50 metres and has another special feature.
The solar cell is cleverly hidden
The supposedly normal black dial is in fact a small solar cell specially developed by Tissot for this watch. This supplies the battery with power and enables great running times. If you only use the watch, you will hardly ever have to put it out in the sun. With the smart functions, it will be a few months or even longer before the power runs out. If the battery is low, you can recharge it with a charger.

All in all, the T-Touch Connect Sport is an exciting alternative for anyone who primarily wants a classic watch and only secondarily a few smart functions. The range of functions is significantly limited compared to normal smartwatches, but if that's enough, Tissot offers a successful overall package.
