Until(s) the series: "Twilight" is coming back
Edward and Bella are back. The vampire series "Twilight" is being filmed as a series. However, it is still unclear how the "Until(s)" books will be turned into a series.
The Hollywood Reporter recently reported that an infamous fantasy series is getting a reboot: The "Twilight" saga is being rebooted as a series.
The five "Twilight" films based on the four book volumes played in cinemas around the world from 2008 to 2012 - and were a huge success. The series, known in German-speaking countries as the Bis(s) series - because of vampire bites, you know - grossed over 3.3 billion US dollars in cinemas. It turned actress Kristen Stewart (Bella) and actor Robert Pattinson (Edward) into global stars. As with the relaunch of the "Harry Potter" films, the books are the basis for the series adaptation.
Mysterious realisation
In other respects, about as much is known about the series project as was initially known about vampire Edward Cullen in "Twilight - Until Dawn": a great deal is still a mystery. The project is still in its earliest stages, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The Canadian-American entertainment company Lionsgate Television has taken on the realisation.
The associated novels are written by author Stephenie Meyer. However, it is not yet clear whether she will write the upcoming series instalments. Who will take on the roles of Bella and Edward is also still up in the air.

To the point of drooling?
It should be clear that not everyone is a fan of the vampire romance. In 2013, "Until the End of the Night - Part Two" was voted the worst film and received seven "Golden Raspberries". The film had previously been nominated for eleven of these invective awards.
The relaunch is also causing quite a stir in the digitec editorial team. I have captured a few quotes.
Colleague and editorial team film doyen Luca Fontana comments dryly: "I can't do anything with the 'Twilight' saga. After the first film, it was already over for me, and it was supposedly still considered the best film in the series. 'Until(s)' my arse. In fact, I've already had mosquito bites that were more passionate than this pseudo-romantic and embarrassingly staged version of 'Romeo and Juliet'. Let's hope that the upcoming series adaptation at least tries to turn the pining teenagers into reasonably rational characters."
Colleague Michelle Brändle explains: "The teenage years. Everything fits in here that I didn't think about back then and don't think about today. Twilight is one of them. I devoured all the films and today I can no longer explain how I could have done that to myself back then. I imagine an adaptation as a series would be difficult, but with a lot of creativity and good acting, it could definitely be successful."
Colleague Kevin Hofer, meanwhile, confesses: "Yes, I did watch the "Twilight" films. More like: I binge-watched them. Until the bitter end. What did I learn? Pop culture is finished. At its core, the 'Twilight' saga is nothing more than a reinterpretation of the story of salvation. A secular substitute for religion for esoteric teenagers."
What the up to the series season finale will be like - we remain curious.
