After voice messages: You can now send video messages on WhatsApp
by Florian Bodoky
WhatsApp is working tirelessly on new features for its app. You can now share your screen and show content.
Meta is continuing to work on its visual functions for WhatsApp Messenger. The video messaging feature was rolled out at the end of July. Now it's moving on to screen sharing.
In the most used messenger in the world, with over two billion users, you can now share your screen during a video call. The content of the screen is streamed live. For example, you can demonstrate a smartphone or app function to the video call participants and briefly show them some photos.
The function is already available for Android and iOS
If you have installed the latest update of the app, a new sharing icon will appear when a video call is in progress (see screenshot below). If you tap on it and then on "Start now" / "Start transmission", the screen will be shared with the participants of the call. On Android this happens immediately, on iOS there is a short countdown before the start.
Now the other person can see your screen and your activities, albeit with a slight delay. To end the transmission, tap on the "End transmission" button.

As for the analogue variety, I've been doing that since I learned to talk. Though Winterthur is my adoptive home city, my heart still bleeds red and blue.
