In June 2018, the testers of Stiftung Warentest updated the database and added 13 new tablets. These include devices from Apple, Samsung, Huawei and Lenovo. Eight of the new models offer displays with a screen diagonal of around 25 centimetres (10 inches), the five smaller ones vary between around 18 and around 21 centimetres (7 to 8 inches)...

The Amazon Fire HD 10 is a well-made tablet with sufficient performance and endurance. The Alexa automatic function, which makes pressing buttons superfluous, is also good: simply say "Alexa" and instructions can be given by voice. However, the tablet is not easy to use and Fire buyers have to put up with the limited connection to the various Amazon online shops.

The Amazon Fire Tablet HD 10 (2017) performs well when tested. Compared to its predecessor, the Amazon tablet offers some new functions. Particularly noteworthy is the Alexa voice assistant, with which communication worked flawlessly during the test. However, if you want to use more than just Amazon services, you'll have to hold back: there is no connection to the Google Play Store.

The Fire HD 10 offers better features than the similarly priced devices from Acer, Trekstor and Asus. The screen manages the sRGB colour space and good contrast values. The processor and graphics chip are faster and the runtimes are clearly superior. Amazon's Alexa assistant is integrated and can even listen when the screen is switched off...
