- WLAN speed high
- Still a decent range
- High power consumption
- Few connections available
In comparison with Netgear Orbi and Linksys Velop, which also rely on three frequency bands, Asus Lyra has to admit defeat: The WLAN performance is also high, but the Asus is weaker in terms of range. The app is clearly laid out, but some functions are complicated to explain.
- Separate WLAN backbone
- meagre router functions
- Stromsäufer
Asus also offers its Lyra system as a "mini" version without a separate WLAN module for the backbone. However, because this only saves around 60 euros, the full-grown version is usually the cleverer choice. In terms of throughput, Lyra is roughly on a par with the similarly equipped Velop system, but the energy consumption could be lower...
With Lyra, we hope for an update that eliminates teething problems.
As a tri-band set, Lyra should perform somewhat better. A firmware update could possibly contribute to this.
