For fans of compact sound solutions, Boston Acoustics has introduced a new set featuring a soundbar and a wireless subwoofer.

Class-D amplifier with 150 watts RMS

The subwoofer's housing is slightly narrower at the top than at the bottom, which Boston Acoustics refers to as an unusual polyhedral shape. The subwoofer measures 26.6 centimeters wide, 23.8 centimeters high, and just under 28 centimeters deep, housing a Class-D amplifier and a 165-millimeter woofer. According to the specifications, the downward-firing driver is rated at an output of 150 watts (RMS). Fortunately, no cable is needed to supply the three-kilogram bass box with signals: the subwoofer is wirelessly controlled and only needs to be plugged into a power outlet, allowing for flexible placement in the room.

One digital and two analog audio inputs

The centerpiece of the system is an 80-centimeter wide, 8.3-centimeter high, and 7.35-centimeter deep soundbar, which can be placed directly above or below the flat-screen TV. The soundbar features two 125-millimeter HHRT drivers. The acronym HHRT stands for Hyperbolic High Rigidity Technology, which, thanks to its lightweight yet rigid membranes that are specifically shaped, promises a dynamic and distortion-free sound experience. Dolby Digital signals are expected to benefit from a virtual surround technology called DOVS, and there is also a music mode. In terms of connectivity, the speaker bar, which can be controlled with the TV remote according to the manufacturer, offers an optical digital input, an analog RCA input, and a 3.5-millimeter aux input.
