- Small, lightweight and weatherproof
- High resolution in the image centre from open aperture
- Free from distortion
- Beautiful bokeh
- Plastic bayonet, also without seal
- Focus breathing and non-linear focus ring bad for videos

- Very good image quality performance as well as the compactness and low weight are advantages with which the Nikon novelty can score points
- The focus drive is quite loud, which is annoying when filming
- The lens lacks a stabiliser that Z cameras with an APS-C sensor also do not have
Nikon's first fixed focal length for cameras with a Z bayonet and APS-C format sensor is (almost) convincing across the board. Only the rather noisy autofocus drive and the lack of image stabilisation spoil the very good overall impression. Otherwise, however, the image quality of the new product is pleasing.
