Product details
The new OM-D E-M5 Mark III is ideal for those who travel a lot. It is one of the most compact and lightweight cameras in its class. The equipment includes a 20.4 megapixel live MOS sensor, the TruePic
VIII image processor known from the flagship E-M1 Mark II model and a new compact 5-axis image stabilisation system. Using the powerful M.Zuiko lenses, the E-M5 Mark III delivers convincing images with minimal noise even at high ISO settings.
The dust- and splash-proof as well as frost-proof camera housing allows the use in almost any weather. And thanks to the Olympus Super Sonic Wave Filter, the sensor remains free of dust and dirt particles even after changing the lens. This is because they are simply shaken off when the camera is switched on with the help of more than 30,000 vibrations per second. The popular OM-D design has been optimized: The handle and thumb rest are slightly enlarged to make the E-M5 Mark III even easier to hold and easy to use for both large and small hands.
The OM-D E-M5 Mark III is equipped with the proven phase detection AF system with 121 cross sensors, which supports different AF field settings (single and group). Until now, this was only possible with the E-M1X and E-M1 Mark II models. Unlike many autofocus systems in DSLR cameras, the precision of the AF is not impaired even when particularly fast lenses are used. For all M.Zuiko lenses, the E-M5 Mark III's autofocus works precisely and quickly even at maximum aperture and regardless of the subject. An improved algorithm also prevents the autofocus from jumping unexpectedly to the background.
Fast moving motifs, for example in sports and animal photography, are no problem for the E-M5 Mark III. Up to 10 frames per second are recorded with AF/AE tracking enabled. The algorithm uses AF information from the live view and the recorded images to quickly track unpredictable subject movements and changes in subject speed. The OM-D E-M5 Mark III's fast and high-precision autofocus uses the full potential of the outstanding MSC (Video & Photo) mechanism for fast and quiet focusing with M.Zuiko lenses.
The new 5-axis image stabilization system of the OM-D E-M5 Mark III enables a compensation performance of up to 5.5 EV. Based on information from the highly sensitive gyro sensor and image analysis, the TruePic VIII image processor precisely controls the stabilizer unit. In addition to angle deviation and shift movement, rotation movements are corrected, perfect for hand-held shooting. In combination with the integrated Sync-IS function of some lenses, the image stabilization performance of the OM-D E-M5 Mark III increases up to 6.5 EV levels.
