To supplement regarding use for the PS5 - absolutely not usable! You need an additional adapter (cost 30-50CHF) but then simply transmits sound. The high audio quality of the Astro headsets is thereby completely lost.
Currently (as of 23.11.2020), the Sony 3D Pulse Standard Headset is probably the best (although not good) solution.

Original review:
I replaced the Gen3 with the Gen4.
Soundtechnisch and wearing comfort I have not noticed any big changes.
The design I like better to the predecessor, because all black.
The Mic or the transmitted sound (which many criticize here) is not worse, it is just different. I got the feedback that I come across a little clearer, that's it.
Overall, as with the Gen3 unit, I am very pleased. The upgrade from Gen3 to Gen4 I have made because of the smaller Homebase, because of the more accurate support for charging on the station and, future-oriented, because of the new 3D sound (Gen 3 virtual 7.1) which is then supported by the PS5.
Actually everything tiptop, battery lasts long (the real reason why I my old after 6 years exchanged since battery performance nachlies) super base station, very high quality, except for the microphone I do not know if I have a faulty or that is really so but compared to my a50 gen2 it is much worse one hears me also very muffled and since there hald still no great reviews giebt I can unfortunately aktuel only bad say whether that is the reason or not.

After just over a year of using the Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless, I came to the Astro with a bit of trepidation as I loved my old headset. As soon as I tried the Astro, I realised that my old headset wasn't that great.
Everything is better, the sound, the sound settings, the quality of the microphone, the comfort (personal opinion as I wear glasses, there was like a squeaking noise because of them, I had to order astro type earpieces on wish to solve the problem but when you pay 300.00, you would like to have them included)
The headset is a bit expensive, up to 250.00 I think it's worth the price but above that it's a bit too much for what it offers.
And a big black spot, after all it's just me who hasn't got the hang of it yet, putting the helmet on the base and getting it to charge on the first try is almost impossible, you really have to place it well with both hands and I sometimes find myself having to lift it 3-4 times just to get it to charge properly.

The Astra A50 is an awesome headset. I opted for Astro, since around 3 years ago, I had an A40 and loved the quality.
The A50 is no different. The audio quality is outstanding. The microphone quality is very decent too, but I my friends via Discord did mention, that the headset microphone I was using before, did sound better (Sennheiser PC 373D).
Receiving the headset, I had to charge it for almost half a day, for it to reach 100% (around 10-12 hours).
The installation of the software was very easy and self explanatory. The Command Center Software is very easy to use and allows you to customize your audio to a large extent.
The distance the headset works is rather decent. I can get behind 2 walls and be around 4 meters away from the base station, and the headset will work most of the time. Any closer and it works perfectly.
But there are some issues with the headset:
At first, the headset hurt to wear for more than 2 hours. I have since gotten used to it and the headset seems to have fit to my head - this took around 5 days to become comfortable.
The microphone standard is set to play your voice back (side tone) to you. I myself find that feature very annoying. You can disable it via the Command Center (desktop app), but every 2nd time I boot my PC, the feature is activated again, although the software says that it is turned off. It's annoying having to slide the side tone up, release, and slide back to off, to fix this.
Speaking of the microphone, the feature to "flip up to mute" is great. Many headsets have this, including the A50. But there's a huge issue. About every 3rd or 4th time, I flip my microphone down to unmute it, it doesn't unmute. I have to physically flip it back up to the mute position, and flip it back down to get it to unmute.
Another small issue is the voilume wheel on the headset. I like to wear hoodies at home, during the winter, with the cap/hoodie down. If I'm wearing my headset and hoodie, and turn my head, there's a great chance that my voilume gets lowered. This is a small issue which I personally have, but I could see other people facing the same problem.
Lastly, the Dolby Atmos sounds like a cool feature, but I have yet to be able to set it up correctly, for it to work well during gaming. In games like CSGO, it's impossible to hear where steps and shots are coming from, with Atmos activated. I advise to use the normal Astro-audio settings when gaming. It could be that Atmos is more optimized for movies and shows, but the A50 is a gaming headset and Atmos is clearly not optimized for gaming.
That all being said, I'd still recommend this headset for people willing to pay the price. I'm sure that there are cheeper wireless headphones out there, which do the same job. But I'm just a gamer who wanted to get his hands on an A50 after experiencing the A40's a few years ago.

Super sound quality and also the workmanship is really great!

First impression: good quality and stylish. When I charged it, which unfortunately takes several hours, and then put it on, I was really excited. It is not too heavy and sits very comfortably. Even as a wearer of glasses, I can wear this headset for over 6 hours without taking it off. (Already tested several times ^^)
The reception radius is not too small either. You can get out of the room and get something without a problem if you want to.
When gaming, it's a true eargasm. A rich bass and clear sounds make it easy to locate enemies (e.g. COD) and really feel the action. The Mik is like the quite 1A and works great with Skype or Ps3. (Other things probably do too, but I don't have them).
The price is very high but justified in my opinion.

I received the Astro A50 as a gift for Christmas 2022. From the beginning, I had to hold the headband together with cable ties, because the plug connection kept coming loose -.- But that wasn't enough, exactly 5 months after the first use, a small screw came loose (see pictures). Luckily I had IFIXIT at hand for the small hexagon socket of the screw. There was no threadlocker (Loctite etc.) on the screw and it was not properly tightened. Definitely not an application error, the build quality is sub-standard. I am very disappointed and angry about a CHF 250 headset with this quality. Even headphones for 20 CHF have a much better build quality. What also confuses me are the excellent reviews of the A50, maybe I got a piece of junk, but that doesn't explain the problem with the connector, as a whole batch of A50s should have this problem. For me, it's clear: no more Astro.

By far the best headset I've ever had.
Compared to the Logitech G930 and Medusa I had before, the A50 offers much better sound quality. Only when there is no sound at all does the headset hum slightly.
The only problem: when I right-click the mouse, the headphones buzz very quietly for a short time...!

On the positive side, the headset feels good to wear and if you don't make any wild movements you might forget you're wearing the headset.
On the negative side, fresh out of the box, a firmware is installed which cannot be updated with the current app from the Microsoft App Store, you are forced to search the abyss of the Internet for the original programme. At very irregular intervals the headset does a firmware reset and is no longer recognised as an audio source, the solution is to place it on the station, start the corresponding app and then the firmware is downgraded only to patch the whole thing back to the "current firmware" from 2 years ago in a second step. The saddest thing for me, however, is the fact that this device is capable of receiving a digital and a USB signal, I thought to myself great you can attach and use 2 devices... NO if you use both inputs the base station crashes at some point (it can be 10min it can be 8h) and you have to remove everything and restart.

I really rarely write reviews, even if a product is bad (subjectively for me). But here I can't help it. I have never held anything worse in my hands.
The upper head padding is clicked into the frame in the simplest way, which consists of only 2 thin plastic struts. The cushion falls out every time I put it on and off. NERVOUS.
The whole thing would still be tolerable if the software for the PC (Windows) wasn't an absolute disaster. The software is only available in the Windows Store, not on the Astro website (which, by the way, is a Logitech spin-off). The software starts only once. After that, no chance... Now and then, when I throw the software down and reinstall it. But that is also a matter of luck.
The support? :-D :-D No response. There is simply no answer.... Check the reviews in the Windows Store. I can't understand how they can't take action here and finally programme the software so that it runs.
All this in view of the price of 335 CHF... It's ridiculous beyond belief.
To all those who want to buy the headset for the PC. ABSOLUTELY FINGER AWAY!!!

I bought the Astro a50 with charging station about 2 months ago.
So far I can't complain, it runs without any problems.
What I also really like is the software, which offers very good settings and is very simple.
A clear recommendation to buy

I can recommend the headset to everyone :)
I am very grateful to Astro that you can now finally buy new fabric for the ear and head and put it in.
The battery can also be easily replaced with a tutorial if it no longer works so well after what feels like 10 years :)

The headset is, simply put, brilliant.
I first used it with an onboard sound chip and was actually very satisfied. After a while, I bought a sound card and was overwhelmed. Clean high tones, rich bass and crystal clear voices. I can recommend everyone to invest money in a sound card again. It is worth it.

I don't understand why this headset is so hyped. The microphone is unearthly bad, the wearing comfort is anything but good (who would think of making the padding so small and thin for such a heavy headset???), the ear pads are rather narrow. By far the biggest disappointment is the sound, which is on the level of a 30-50 headset. The earpiece is constantly rushing, which is extremely annoying and the sound has no fullness, it is weak and tinny... I just don't know how this headset could get such good references in the tests... since headsets cannot be returned for hygiene reasons, I will have to keep it if I have to, but I can only advise everyone not to buy this junk, you can get far better headsets for 300.- you get far better headsets!

Conclusion this headset is not cool for the price. I rather recommend the old model or directly the a40 or another brand.

I bought this headset from another retailer at a lower price. However, since Digitec has the largest community, I would like to issue a warning here about this product, which unfortunately was not clear to me in advance. I am exclusively a PC user, so this only refers to the use on the PC. How it behaves on the PS or Xbox, I do not know:
The station, which is there to charge the headset, can be connected with a USB to the PC and with a micro USB to the station. The audio data and the power go through this connection. The cable is therefore needed to transfer data and also to supply the station with power or charge the headset when it is in the station.
When I am at the PC, I have the headset on my head. When I'm away from the PC, I put the headset in the station and turn off my computer. But here is the problem. The station gets power from the PC. So when I shut down my PC, the headset does not charge.... This is a farce to me!
The station also can not be used by means of a cell phone power adapter (several tested with different voltages) to charge. It needs according to official support a DATA CONNECTION to charge! So a pure power connection is not enough.
The only two workarounds to charge the headset when the PC is off are:
- Plug in the headset directly via micro USB (so the station becomes obsolete, you better buy another headset, which is also charged via cable, without the extra charge for the station).
- Set in BIOS that USB ports are permanently powered, so that they have power even when the computer is turned off (Unfortunately not all systems can do this, mine (HP OMEN Desktop) for example not. So this does not work for me).
There was zero study in product development! The station is so useless!
If it's about the station, let the fingers of it!

My Logitech G933 are now a few years old and still work perfectly, but I wanted something new and decided on the Astro 50. The decision came after reading an article at Galaxus/Digitec in which these headphones were praised as "The Best".
Now, after about 20 hours of use, I am so stunned by this review that I can hardly put it into words, but I'll give it a try.
The sound quality of these headphones is so bad on the default settings that I don't know how anyone can say anything positive about them. It simply sounds like someone recording sound from the TV with their mobile phone and then playing it back in the headphones. It's extremely muffled, you can't hear important sounds in CoD Warzone at all and overall it sounds like a 4CHF headset you had in internet cafes back in the day.
Well, apparently you have to adjust the equaliser to optimise the sound. And that's where it starts: You almost have to study to understand how the different frequency ranges and the dB behind them work before you can do anything useful. But ok, so I just got to grips with it and got started.
The next problem. Astro only offers 5 frequency ranges that you can set as you like. The frequencies go up to about 15000. With the Logitech G933, there are 10 frequency ranges that go up to 16000.
Now I've been trying things out intensively for about 3 days, tried out completely different settings and even ventured into the "advanced settings", with which you can set even more complicated things. The result: the sound is only 50% of my old G933. The sound just sounds dull, a bit far away (whether with or without Dolby Digital).
Long story short, buy the G933. And that was the first and last time I believe a line of any review from Galaxus/Digitec.

Top workmanship.
The only drawback is that when the mic is up, you can hear some of the mic coming from the boom, but it's not annoying because you can stretch it out a bit.
Very cool feature that you can adjust the sound on the right side by tapping more on voice chat or more on play.

I like it a lot, it's beautiful, has a base station that's reasonably good. It's quite a complicated piece but it sounds very cool. But for 200 euros/francs it's embarrassing. Unfortunately, I had a defect within a few days. Not recommended

A good headset that will eventually stop working overnight. The update software is probably to blame. Logitec support is terrible and not very helpful.

Ordered and returned after 1 week of use. For the price in my opinion it is not worth it.
Convenient charging station but you have to find the perfect position to charge the headphones.
The materials used I expected to be much better for what they charge.
