I'm happy with the board. Runs a 9800X3D on it. I would have got the Hero, but the extra USB ports and the lack of need to spend more on a board led me to the Strix 870E-E. Direct bios update on it. Voltages are set reasonably and my G.Skill Set 6000MT/s runs flawlessly with Expo2. Initial ram tweaking also indicates positive results. The board is super inconspicuous (lighting is off).

My first build with this mobo and it was very easy
The M2_2 and M2_3 heatsink is big watchout for compatiblity with your aio (not compatible with Arctic Liquid Freeze III)

It is a great mainboard but there is one major flaw for a three star rating.
After investigating the issue and finding a post in the ASUS user forums, the x870 chipset mainboards suffer an issue with the M2_2 slot which is used for Gen 5 M2 SSDs. It randomly doesn't show up on boot and after a reboot it appears again. On the next reboot it is gone again. Currently (as of 19-Feb-2025) this issue is not addressed in a firmware update.
Alternative is to use the other M2_4 and M2_5 Gen4 slots.

BIOS working fine, but didn't recognise my ssd (Samsung 990 Pro 2Tb) in the boot priority. Finally I rebooted my motherboard, and it finally recognised, and I was able to install Windows 11 without any problem.

It's an amazing board, however at that price I would expect some more attention to detail and features, for example no shared lanes between ANY M.2 and GPU and probably a better GPU lock mechanism

After 10 years, my old faithful Asus z170 pro Gaming can retire together with my old HDD's and the I7 6700k, the new board from Asus has a super number of connections and also enough M.2 SSD slots, although slots 2 and 3 are not usable as otherwise the graphics card is only operated with PCI Express x8 instead of x16. In addition, the board is not ideally compatible with the Arctic Liquid Freezer III cooler as the SSD cover gets in the way, I simply left the cover off as I don't use the slots anyway. It's impressive how much the speed has increased in the last few years thanks to the new SSDs, I never want to go back :D
