    All-rounder

I already had the previous model, which accompanied me for many years without any problems. This new model is in the functions even more mature, qualitechnisch in function and image even more appealing.
    This camera verinhaltlicht
through the various modes really all situations for sports and leisure.
It makes huge fun snapshots, videos, actions, situations and impressions in the picture to "document", whether with people, animals, landscape and whether on land or water - especially since I like snorkeling and this camera is simply ideal in handling for this "field of application".
My new companion is and remains this camera - because the design is also an "eye-catcher". Everything fits for me -

    Pro

    • compact
    • robust
    • handy
    • wide range of applications

Top camera with mediocre image quality

I bought the camera as an outdoor camera for mountain biking. And at best as a second camera for diving. There I have been using the OMD-E M10 for years with top results. The Tough TG-6 meets all expectations in terms of workmanship and thus absolutely lives up to the Olympus quality. There is absolutely nothing to complain about, both in terms of operation and possibilities. There are some drawbacks in the image quality. In good light, the pictures are quite ok. In moderate light, however, there is a bit of noise. However, this is true for all cameras with this chip size. Compared to good cell phone cameras, it usually takes better pictures due to the optics. However, there are also situations where my cell phone takes better pictures. So if you're outdoors and can't handle the touchscreen on your phone (wet, cold fingers, gloves), you should take a look at the little Olympus. Also people who want to take their first pictures under water. Or mountaineers who sometimes come into contact with rocks. Or people who work in construction. For this, the camera is top.

    Pro

    • Shockproof
    • Waterproof
    • Optical zoom
    • Macro program
    • Aperture priority program
    • Many possibilities for such a camera
    • GPS reception
    • Good build quality

    Contra

    • Image noise in low sun

    A proven camera

Compared to the TG-4, it has some new features, but without changing everything that has been tried and tested. All previous accessories fit as well.
Even if you don't use it underwater, I appreciate it as a robust, handy
camera for beach and mountains. The microscope mode is still ingenious.

    Camera for many situations

The Tough is robust and waterproof up to 15m. It is therefore suitable for snorkellers and novice divers. However, you should think about an underwater lamp, as the flash is so close to the lens that reflections of floating particles occur even in clear water.

The camera has some useful subject programs and can be set quite far "by hand", but here the Tough relies less on the usual SCN programs. Especially those who have already photographed with somewhat larger cameras would occasionally wish that functions such as white balance were placed on a head. So you have to click through the menus until you find what you are looking for. And most of what you are looking for can already be found somewhere.

Certain functions - especially in the macro area - are absolutely top-notch, many things are very well solved and thanks to the accessories, the camera can be expanded into a "real" diving camera. Out of the water, the camera is comparable to many compact cameras, but no better or worse.

    Pro

    • Offers all kinds of things for little money
    • Expandable to the right UW camera system

    Contra

    • Somewhat more demanding than the various predecessors.
    • some important functions are missing or have to be searched for.
