I am VERY happy with the Note 3! Until now I only had iPhones and the Galaxy S3.
The Note 3 has a VERY nice picture and excellent video quality!
At first I was worried about the size of the Note 3, but so far I'm just thrilled and glad I took the plunge, as the price is quite high...
If you like large displays, like me, you will like the Note 3!
I can't compare it with the older Note phones, but everything works perfectly and I haven't had any problems yet. Fortunately, I don't have the wifi problems that leobaumgart1 mentions. I use the wifi at home and in the shop.... Connect to both and it works flawlessly.
I would definitely buy the phone again! Therefore full 5 stars!

Yes you can use your Australian SIM, you just have to insert a European SIM when you first use the phone. After that, any SIM will work anywhere in the world :). This is simply a crackdown on grey imports, hence the SIM lock.
The Note 3 replaced my LG G2 about a week ago, and I am completely convinced.
With the LG, I had to root it to be able to deactivate certain functions, otherwise the battery barely lasted a day (optimised then 2 - 3 days). I need the Note 3 without any changes and I always have two days of battery life, with 5.5 - 6 hours of display time.
The size is certainly not negligible, but those who are already used to larger devices with an S4, G2 or similar will have no problem with it.
The only point where the G2 trumps the Note 3: photos in low light; the optical image stabiliser in the G2 simply cannot be beaten. During the day, however, the situation is completely different: the Note 3 clearly takes sharper pictures and also gets more out of panorama and HDR pictures.
Performance, software, display, camera, battery, everything about this device is just right for me, and I've already had many.
Unconditional purchase recommendation.

- At most the rather weak selection of useful cases/cases

This device is brilliant and by far the best smartphone I have ever held in my hand. It is highly recommended to every Android user and to all those who value:
- Beautiful, LARGE and accurate display.
- Fast phone with enough RAM
- Long battery life
- Pen with character recognition and operation
Don't worry about the size, you get used to it after 1-2 days and don't want to go back.
The pen is ingenious. Taking notes is x times easier. In addition, there are a few special programmes that fully support the feature - brilliant.
The camera is also good. Takes nice pictures and good videos.
The device can multitask and you can split the display between two apps and work with both at the same time.
I can't find any major negative points. In the beginning, the many processes set to 'automatic', which I personally like to turn off and trigger manually, were annoying. It took a while to find and change every setting. Afterwards, however, I knew the setting options quite well. :-)

Bought 2 a month ago and am/are very satisfied. Battery lasts a good day even for frequent users. Charger charges the phone quickly. Large display and super resolution. Camera is unfortunately not as fast as the iPhone, or there are situations in which the camera needs 4-5 seconds until it triggers.
If you are looking for a good quality case, go to spigen.com and choose the NeoHybrid 3, fantastic workmanship. Also available for order on Amazon.
Samsung's voice recognition is mediocre, but Google's is fantastic. If you use it in the car, you should definitely do it with voice input, using it with one hand can be dangerous and the phone tends to slip out of your hand, plus you can hardly operate it with one hand. Still, 5 stars for the whole package.

Absolutely amazing smartphone that is second to none! And: all the talk about sim card blocking is thin air. I've just been to Australia with the device, a country that is not supposed to work according to the chatterers, and lo and behold: the prepaid card from Australia (Optus) worked perfectly, even with 4G! The information from Samsung Switzerland that it simply has to be activated with a Swiss card is therefore correct.
