I am VERY happy with the Note 3! Until now I only had iPhones and the Galaxy S3.
The Note 3 has a VERY nice picture and excellent video quality!
At first I was worried about the size of the Note 3, but so far I'm just thrilled and glad I took the plunge, as the price is quite high...
If you like large displays, like me, you will like the Note 3!
I can't compare it with the older Note phones, but everything works perfectly and I haven't had any problems yet. Fortunately, I don't have the wifi problems that leobaumgart1 mentions. I use the wifi at home and in the shop.... Connect to both and it works flawlessly.
I would definitely buy the phone again! Therefore full 5 stars!

@thomas
Yes you can use your Australian SIM, you just have to insert a European SIM when you first use the phone. After that, any SIM will work anywhere in the world :). This is simply a crackdown on grey imports, hence the SIM lock.
The Note 3 replaced my LG G2 about a week ago, and I am completely convinced.
With the LG, I had to root it to be able to deactivate certain functions, otherwise the battery barely lasted a day (optimised then 2 - 3 days). I need the Note 3 without any changes and I always have two days of battery life, with 5.5 - 6 hours of display time.
The size is certainly not negligible, but those who are already used to larger devices with an S4, G2 or similar will have no problem with it.
The only point where the G2 trumps the Note 3: photos in low light; the optical image stabiliser in the G2 simply cannot be beaten. During the day, however, the situation is completely different: the Note 3 clearly takes sharper pictures and also gets more out of panorama and HDR pictures.
Performance, software, display, camera, battery, everything about this device is just right for me, and I've already had many.
Unconditional purchase recommendation.

- At most the rather weak selection of useful cases/cases

This device is brilliant and by far the best smartphone I have ever held in my hand. It is highly recommended to every Android user and to all those who value:
- Beautiful, LARGE and accurate display.
- Fast phone with enough RAM
- Long battery life
- Pen with character recognition and operation
Don't worry about the size, you get used to it after 1-2 days and don't want to go back.
The pen is ingenious. Taking notes is x times easier. In addition, there are a few special programmes that fully support the feature - brilliant.
The camera is also good. Takes nice pictures and good videos.
The device can multitask and you can split the display between two apps and work with both at the same time.
I can't find any major negative points. In the beginning, the many processes set to 'automatic', which I personally like to turn off and trigger manually, were annoying. It took a while to find and change every setting. Afterwards, however, I knew the setting options quite well. :-)

Bought 2 a month ago and am/are very satisfied. Battery lasts a good day even for frequent users. Charger charges the phone quickly. Large display and super resolution. Camera is unfortunately not as fast as the iPhone, or there are situations in which the camera needs 4-5 seconds until it triggers.
If you are looking for a good quality case, go to spigen.com and choose the NeoHybrid 3, fantastic workmanship. Also available for order on Amazon.
Samsung's voice recognition is mediocre, but Google's is fantastic. If you use it in the car, you should definitely do it with voice input, using it with one hand can be dangerous and the phone tends to slip out of your hand, plus you can hardly operate it with one hand. Still, 5 stars for the whole package.

Absolutely amazing smartphone that is second to none! And: all the talk about sim card blocking is thin air. I've just been to Australia with the device, a country that is not supposed to work according to the chatterers, and lo and behold: the prepaid card from Australia (Optus) worked perfectly, even with 4G! The information from Samsung Switzerland that it simply has to be activated with a Swiss card is therefore correct.
@oezer That was obvious, but thanks to everyone for the shitstorm.
The Note 3 is an awesome piece, finally the performance I expect (switched from the Note 1) - still waiting for a decent flip cover, which I'll get from D early next week, then it'll be roadworthy.
I was also surprised how smoothly it connects to ActiveSync. As feature-packed and snappy as it is, the Note 3 is very hard to top for now. A little less bloatware would be nice, though. And why does Samsung always think it has to reinvent so many Google wheels?

The device is absolutely ingenious. The new pen tools are now so well thought out that you can really work productively with them (in my view, it was more of a gimmick with the Note 2). The battery also leaves nothing to be desired. There are no negative points for me.
One star deduction for the whole SIM lock thing. It doesn't really affect me, but it's not too customer-friendly. I also find it a shame that accessories like the flip cover are not yet available from the start (the original delivery date has now been changed from mid-October to unknown).

I am more than convinced by this device. Super fast, handy (despite its size), very nice design.
The region lock doesn't really interest me. I'm mainly in Switzerland and when I go abroad I use roaming or another mobile phone with another SIM.
I find it sad how people let themselves be influenced. 99% of all comments here are about region lock and I bet 90% of them are abroad maybe 2 weeks a year.

I've had the device for a week now and I'm still thrilled with it. There were a few bugs at the beginning, but you can quickly find solutions on the internet, as well as for the alleged region lock (but I will never need it anyway).
The handwriting recognition really works, it may take some getting used to but I now work almost paperless with it.
Because of the price, I wanted to give it 4 stars at first, but considering the functionality, it's almost cheap again compared to the overpriced iPhone5.

Lte super fast
For me the best phone Samsungs has ever made...
Absolutely recommend...

I can confirm that after SIM activation in Switzerland, a Chinese SIM (Shanghai) still does NOT work. In addition, the configuration for left-handers has been omitted in the new Note 3. The S point is slightly below the stylus, i.e. not at the tip of the stylus. Otherwise, the device is not so bad.
The hammer. Technically the No. 1 and the best phablet there is. If you like it bigger, get it. I am very satisfied. My favourite phone next to the iPhone 5S.

Super phone, by far the best I've had so far!
The HTC One can almost keep up but I like the Note much better so far (longer battery life, better screen). Only downside: the icons are too big (settings on extra small).

very nice phone, I've had them all. The Note 1 + 2 ...
I'm a little disappointed with the stylus, the stylus on the Note 2 was a lot better. Also the back of the phone slips a lot, but you can solve that with a cover or case. The display is even nicer and brighter than the Galaxy S4.
All in all, a very nice phone, although optically I liked the Note 2 better. The edge should have stayed shiny like the Note 2, I don't like the grooves at all. Nevertheless, the phone gets a full 5 stars from me.
All those who are now whining about Sim Lock. Who cares? Besides, you only have to use a sim card from the region you bought the first time you use it (according to various testers).
But now to the more important part. I've had the phone for a few days now and it even lasts me just under 2 days with really heavy use. Admittedly, the battery takes a while to charge, but the performance is right. The pen input is simply outstanding and the multitasking is a great idea.
The size is only annoying for a short time, as you quickly get used to it. It's a shame that there are no cases at the start. Otherwise, I am thrilled.

I've already held it in my hand at a Samsung stand with the smartwatch and I'm simply thrilled! For me the best mobile phone of all, I currently own the Note 2 but will certainly buy the Note 3. Absolutely top phone!
Unfortunately, the simlock persists even after activation. :(
I will probably switch to the Sony z ultra.
Absolutely TOP!!! Currently the fastest smartphone on the market. Congratulations SAMSUNG!!!

I previously had an HTC One, but was dissatisfied because of the small display, the somewhat weak camera and the lack of additional memory. I've now had the Note 3 since yesterday.
The Note 3 is really a great device. The display is the perfect size, the phablet is super fast, the pen and the associated tools are really useful. The battery life is also fine. Not to mention the speed :-) Despite its size, it feels great in the hand and the back is nice and grippy (Samsung has really learned something here). If you don't wear really tight jeans, you'll have no problem putting it in your pocket.
I can recommend it without a bad conscience!

- Low light behaviour of the camera. Shutter release rather slow.
If you like to carry the phone in your trouser pocket, you should rather take an S4 or S5. Bending over with the Note3 is no longer possible :-)
Recommended purchase if you don't care too much about the camera. (maybe there will be a software update that fixes this).

Had the iPhone 5s 64GB until recently,
LG G2 32GB, Galaxy S4 and Z1....
All I can say is, none of these phones are as TOP as the Note 3!!!!
Brilliant all-rounder !

But rather unsuitable for small hands...

The device is top of the line and the best in the Note, Note 2 series. I already wrote this a few weeks ago. The service from Digitec also gets 5 points, fast - reliable everything perfect.
The product support/custome service gets NO points. What really annoys me is having to look for my accessories.
While in other shops glass protection is available 4-9 hours, here it is not available in the foreseeable future, even on request.
I didn't dare to ask further ... after I had already sent the possible links; there are quite a few accessories - unfortunately not here.
So I'm going "outside".

I have no wi-fi problems at all, it's even much better than my laptop.
Sometimes I have the feeling that a driving licence for high-tech devices should be introduced.

I've had the device for about 2 months now, after being very satisfied with the Note 2 for about 2 years.
Unfortunately, the Note 3 has many minor problems, but I can live with them so far. For example, the input assistant simply doesn't learn certain words. Even after typing them 20 times, the next time it will suggest some bullshit other word. One that comes to mind because I use it almost daily is "Gruss".
But the big problem with the Note 3 is the wifi connection. It's so bad that I have to advise anyone who relies on it not to use it at the moment. And this is really about Wifi, not mobile data connections such as 3G or LTE, etc.
I am now at a convention abroad for the second time in 4 weeks and would have to rely on wifi because the mobile data connection is far too expensive. At the current venue we have 6 different rooms, each with a separate wifi access. The device doesn't manage to establish a decent connection of longer than 2 minutes on even one of them. I now almost always drag along my PC, which dials in everywhere without any problems.
I have also tried to find a solution to the problem, but unfortunately all the other users also seem to have the problem but no solution.
So, anyone who relies on wifi, hands off the Note 3 - at least for now until there is a solution to it.
