I had long considered whether to replace my aging Galaxy Tab 2 and if so, with which model. A short participation and associated use of digital documents has now tipped the scales in favor of a purchase.
Since many tablets (12") are simply too big for me - I could also buy a small notebook - and because several devices could not convince me based on test reports, I finally decided on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8.
Unfortunately, the tablet has - as usual with Samsung devices - various preinstalled apps that cannot be removed and partly also cannot be deactivated. The fact that the settings do not correspond to the Google standard bothers me even more. However, I was aware of both before buying the device.
I find it a pity that the pen cannot be inserted directly into the tablet. It is better protected with the additionally purchased keyboard cover, but it is just as protruding as without the cover.
On the positive side, my Lenovo Bluetooth keyboard can be used as an alternative when I have to write a lot of text. I don't mistype as easily with it.
One criticism - but of Android and not the Samsung tablet itself - is the fact that the vertical scrolling area disappears automatically. This makes it awkward to scroll through long pages. When you move the mouse pointer to the edge of the window, the scroll area does not fade in - this only happens when you move your finger directly up/down the display, but the bar does not become usable at all.

After a small mishap with my Galaxy Tab S6, I had to buy a new device. No question: another one from the S series.Always been highly satisfied. And the device has replaced my PC with the available keyboard/cover/pen case from Samsung. And as is so often the case:Look carefully!!Device is bigger and keyboard and cover from the S6 no longer fit.OK...my mistake. But the original accessories are quite expensive.
2nd problem:The S6 had the fingerprint scanner in the screen.Wonderful to use.Now it is fiddly integrated in the on/off switch.
3rd problem:The face recognition does not always work smoothly compared to other devices (iPhone 13 for me).
These may be individual problems on my part, but since I have a direct comparison with the S6, I am a little disappointed.I simply expect more from a flagship successor.
The really great screen and the performance of the device should be emphasised.games with high graphic requirements run smoothly.
Let's see what the S9 brings...

Received the tab today and must say I am quite impressed with a few start up difficulties. Bixby was set so the power off button didn't work to turn the tab off you have to hold down the power off button and -. Was able to change it in the end in the settings. Ok it has bloatware but what device doesn't these days, with the exception of Huawei.
The sad thing was the packaging of Digitec " A huge box without protective material " The tablet arrived fortunately intact although it probably took some beating! The box was half smashed and open delivered by the post office. I think it would be the least to pack it well to avoid damage and not to use a huge box in which you can almost park an airplane. After all, it's not exactly a cheap toy.

The tablet itself is interesting. However, it's impossible to validate a Samsung account, either an existing one or by creating one.
After 4 hours of unsuccessful attempts, the tablet refused to validate the account, with a "Processing Failure". Given that Samsung's current offer (June 2023) includes free delivery of the Cover and keyboard, you need to have a Samsung account to register. So that's impossible! Totally UNACCEPTABLE

What good is the noblest device if you can't charge it. And, there are four speakers but no headphone jack. So, keep shopping before you can fully configure and use the device. I am disappointed.
