    I am satisfied so far

I had long considered whether to replace my aging Galaxy Tab 2 and if so, with which model. A short participation and associated use of digital documents has now tipped the scales in favor of a purchase.
    Since many tablets
(12") are simply too big for me - I could also buy a small notebook - and because several devices could not convince me based on test reports, I finally decided on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8.

Unfortunately, the tablet has - as usual with Samsung devices - various preinstalled apps that cannot be removed and partly also cannot be deactivated. The fact that the settings do not correspond to the Google standard bothers me even more. However, I was aware of both before buying the device.

I find it a pity that the pen cannot be inserted directly into the tablet. It is better protected with the additionally purchased keyboard cover, but it is just as protruding as without the cover.

On the positive side, my Lenovo Bluetooth keyboard can be used as an alternative when I have to write a lot of text. I don't mistype as easily with it.

One criticism - but of Android and not the Samsung tablet itself - is the fact that the vertical scrolling area disappears automatically. This makes it awkward to scroll through long pages. When you move the mouse pointer to the edge of the window, the scroll area does not fade in - this only happens when you move your finger directly up/down the display, but the bar does not become usable at all.

    Pro

    • Not overly large
    • Runs smoothly (hardly any lags)
    • Pen included

    Contra

    • Reflective screen
    • No slot for the pen
    • Handling in the hand rather laborious

    Well...

After a small mishap with my Galaxy Tab S6, I had to buy a new device. No question: another one from the S series.Always been highly satisfied. And the device has replaced my PC with the available keyboard/cover/pen case from Samsung. And as is so often the case:Look carefully!!Device is bigger and keyboard and cover from the S6 no longer fit.OK...my mistake. But the original accessories are quite expensive.
2nd problem:The S6 had the fingerprint scanner in the screen.Wonderful to use.Now it is fiddly integrated in the on/off switch.
3rd problem:The face recognition does not always work smoothly compared to other devices (iPhone 13 for me).
These may be individual problems on my part, but since I have a direct comparison with the S6, I am a little disappointed.I simply expect more from a flagship successor.
The really great screen and the performance of the device should be emphasised.games with high graphic requirements run smoothly.
Let's see what the S9 brings...

    Nice Fast Tab

Received the tab today and must say I am quite impressed with a few start up difficulties. Bixby was set so the power off button didn't work to turn the tab off you have to hold down the power off button and -. Was able to change it in the end in the settings. Ok it has bloatware but what device doesn't these days, with the exception of Huawei.

The sad thing was the packaging of Digitec " A huge box without protective material " The tablet arrived fortunately intact although it probably took some beating! The box was half smashed and open delivered by the post office. I think it would be the least to pack it well to avoid damage and not to use a huge box in which you can almost park an airplane. After all, it's not exactly a cheap toy.

Unable to validate a Samsung account

The tablet itself is interesting. However, it's impossible to validate a Samsung account, either an existing one or by creating one.
After 4 hours of unsuccessful attempts, the tablet refused to validate the account, with
a "Processing Failure". Given that Samsung's current offer (June 2023) includes free delivery of the Cover and keyboard, you need to have a Samsung account to register. So that's impossible! Totally UNACCEPTABLE

    Good Android tablet with weaknesses

The Tab S8 is a solid tablet with Android (thank God it's not an Apple product). The fact that you can use it with a pen and keyboard is great, but everything together is quite heavy.
The software manipulated by Samsung is
problematic. The keyboard language doesn't want CH German for the life of me, many settings are either difficult or impossible to find, the resolution, for example, can't be adjusted at all, etc., as can the scaling. Everything is just a bit too big. Wasted space.
The resolution should be higher anyway.

Good tablet with unnecessary S Pen that consumes a lot of battery.

    Best Android Tablet

I have been an iPad Pro user from business for 4 years. Privately, however, I use an Android phone and I have to say this tablet has it all.
The performance is outstanding (only the M1 iPad Pro is better). The display is
so incredibly fluid, it's really fun to work with it.
What I would like to emphasize is Samsung DeX. You can easily connect the tablet to a monitor and use Word, Outlook, Excel with Samsung DeX just like you would with a desktop computer. (Desktop version of Outlook is not on it though - unfortunately). At the same time, you can still use the tablet, and DeX is running next door!
If you are looking for a high-performance Android tablet that you can also use as a laptop replacement, this is the right choice.

    Pro

    • Display
    • 120Hz
    • Performance
    • Loudspeaker
    • Very handy
    • Best tablet pen available (included)
    • Battery
    • Samsung DeX (madness)

    Contra

    • Battery of the pen
    • Positioning of the pen
    • No adapter (at this price)
    • Many preinstalled apps
    • No GoodLock (app) in Switzerland

New battery lasts barely 5 days (empties itself), stylus use not intuitive and power-hungry!

Zero stars, because the big problem is the battery, which lasts barely 5 days, even without using the screen, runs out of power, with notifications and GPS cut off! For such a poor battery life, the price of this tablet is totally overrated; even a 200-euro tablet lasts much longer with intensive use! No screen rotation function since the December 2023 update!
Android has been tinkered with too much in the Samsung style, making it more complicated and much less intuitive! Using the Samsung stylus is nothing like using the stylus on an iPad, which is very intuitive and can be learned in just a few minutes without going through endless complicated tutorials. The Samsung stylus is a total disappointment; it has nothing to do with the simplicity and efficiency of the iOS system, and its complexity makes it simply unusable! The magnetic system for holding the tablet in its protective case is totally unreliable, doesn't hold the tablet effectively, doesn't protect the corners and is really impractical for holding everything with 1 hand, a total failure! Never again Samsung: no endurance, complicated, doesn't keep its advertising promises, it's a total failure at an exorbitant price!

    Pro

    • Processor and screen performance
    • Pleasant dimensions
    • Fairly good finish, but very poor battery life
    • Supplied with stylus
    • No superfluous accessories (charger, cables, headphones, etc.)
    • Charging the wireless stylus
    • Possibility of adding an extra memory card

    Contra

    • Exorbitant price for a tablet with no autonomy (5-10% loss per day!)
    • Use of the stylus not intuitive, too complicated, minimalist help
    • The tablet does not fit well in the protective magnetic oven, does not protect the corners!
    • The battery is empty after 5-7 days, notifications and GPS triggered!
    • Home-grown Android, not intuitive, often complicated
    • No landscape mode, a technological failure
    • Battery almost empty after 3 hours of film
    • Too many positive and favourable tests for a botched product

    Great tablet

I bought the tablet as a replacement for my S6 tablet. Streaming to Samsung and LG TVs works perfectly. I haven't tried any others. I use it together with my Lenovo X1 Yoga and my Samsung Note20 Ultra 5G. I have installed a 1Tb Micro SD in both the tablet and the Note20.
I can highly recommend the Tablet S8.

Too bad to be good, too good to be bad

The device should not be bought without the optional cover (unfortunately another 50.-) as otherwise you always lose the stylus and the device also scratches relatively quickly.

As is typical for Samsung, half the memory
is cluttered with Samsung apps that usually cannot be uninstalled without a third-party tool. As a result, there are also many integrations in Samsung apps and cloud services that are not compatible with anything except Samsung.

Android (A14 after all) is also disfigured with the Samsung UI and you will find practically nothing where it usually is in Android.

The battery is a cheek, discharges very quickly, even if you reduce the resolution, refresh rate, etc., the thing is not really mobile. The even bigger cheek is the charger that can only charge slowly, although the device would support fast charging - you can of course buy another charger for a fortune. With the standard charger, you can wait 3 hours for a full charge. I think that's cheeky considering the price.

Apart from that, the thing is fast and runs smoothly. But yes, it doesn't have to be a Samsung in the future.

    Pro

    • Fast
    • Good display
    • Pen
    • Handy
    • Android 14

    Contra

    • No holder for pen (is magnetic, constantly falls off)
    • Battery runs out super fast, charger must be nearby
    • Discharges relatively quickly in standby mode
    • Super cheap charger without fast charging function, device takes around 3 hours to charge
    • Incredible amount of bloatware from Samsung that can only be removed with third-party tools
    • Cumbersome, Samsung tinkered UI. Samsung does nothing better here

Great, powerful tablet at a fair price.

Great, powerful tablet at a fair price. Ideal if you need a tablet for work and can live with the fact that it is 'only' the predecessor model to the current S9. It's a bit weird that the 128 GB version is much more expensive than the 256 GB version -> so as long as that's the case, make sure you buy the 256 GB version
