    Almost perfect external HDD

The Firecuda Gaming Hub is, in my eyes, the best external hard drive I have ever owned. It offers a lot of storage space, is lightning fast in response, and has a consistently high data transfer rate. The only negative points are the access noise and the LED lighting, which I find useless. Nevertheless, I recommend the hard drive without hesitation because Seagate offers an absolute top product here, due to the above-mentioned reasons!

    Pro

    • Large storage capacity
    • Very high speed for HDD conditions (>200mbit/s)
    • Soft rubber feet, thus
    • hardly any resonance on the surface
    • Fast access time (response time)
    • Cool optics
    • Relatively cheap

    Contra

    • Audible access noise
    • Flashing LED
    • Boot time somewhat increased

macOS support not great, no usb-C direct connection, but fine otherwise

I was expecting to be able to connect the drive to my macbook with an usb C cable, but in this case nothing happens, the drive doesn't even start to spin. So you need to use the good old usb 3.x cable (included) + your own usb A to usb C adapter to use this product with a recent mac.

And small thing: the "Toolkit" tool from Seagate is not able to change the way the LEDs are used (RGB, etc.) under macOS, so it is also a small negative point.

But otherwise the drive works fine as a Time Machine disk.

    Pro

    • Fine as Time Machine drive

    Contra

    • USB C not really usable
    • no RGB settings under macOS

    Easy to operate

The normal USB cable (i.e. not usb c) must be plugged in for the hard drive to run. It is automatically switched off when it is ejected.

    Pro

    • Easy to operate

    Contra

    • No switch-off button

    Works perfectly

The hard drive is fast enough for an HDD, even on my old laptop, and not noisy. A clear recommendation!

    • Building quality
    • Quiet
    • Reliable

    Contra

    • Cable too short
