Unfortunately, if you want a good mobile phone with good technology, there is not much choice in the compact format. With the XZ2 Compact, Sony offers what I think is a well-designed smartphone that is unrivalled in the Android segment. What I like is that the corners are finally nicely rounded and the device fits perfectly in the hand. It is fun to use the device because it never seems to be overpowered in any application (thanks to Snapdragon 845). The 5" Full HD display is also a joy to use. The Sony XZ2 Compact is a little thick at 12.1 mm, but the battery lasts for 2 days with average use. I think it's a shame that Sony has also dispensed with the 3.5mm jack connection. (An adapter is included for this)
A small tip: The Sony XZ2 Compact is already very fast and smooth to use, but if you like it even faster and smoother, I recommend installing the "Pixel 2 Launcher" from Google as an APK.

Nobly crafted mobile that bucks the trend of "bigger and bigger" and still comes with super performance and features.

I've had the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact for a few days and can highly recommend it. The design may not be to everyone's liking, but it is very pleasant to use due to its size and the curvature on the back. The relatively high weight and the high-quality workmanship leave a consistently good quality impression. The system performance is a blast thanks to the latest Snapdragon 845 processor! In addition, the camera is finally convincing - it has been significantly improved compared to its predecessors. If you're looking for a compact, high-quality and handy smartphone, you've come to the right place!

I had the Xperia Z5 Compact as a predecessor and have to say that things have changed. Transfer from the Z5 Compact to the XZ2 Compact was fast and perfect as usual. After the first few days of use, I have to say the change was worth it. Very fast, clear colours and good sound. Only the screen doesn't react as well as the Z5 Compact when swiping between photos.
It's a shame that the finger sensor is on the back. It's hardly usable with a leather case. You can hardly reach the sensor.
For me, it's really a super compact phone.

The latest compact model from Sony is a marvel of ergonomics; neither too big nor too small, it is comfortable to carry despite weighing more than the average for its range. A very resistant shell that prevents mishaps in case of a fall. My laptop has fallen out of my bag a couple of times and has only a few marks on its edges. It's a far cry from the fell screens that are common on Samsung or Iphone...
As far as performance is concerned, it is undeniably present. A very different camera; I no longer have the overheating problems that prevented me from taking long videos on the old Xperia Compact.
Video quality is excellent, at least outdoors. There are 19 MPX, and for a compact model, that's definitely good, even though it obviously doesn't have the advances found on most high-end smartphones today; 4K and OLED.
If you want to shoot in a bright, overcast area, however, you'll quickly find discrepancies in the image's relationship to reality. The same applies to photos. I can see this when I edit my videos or photos on my PC, because I am lucky enough to have found software that allows me to harmonise the contrasts and levels on all the photos and videos that I transfer from my laptop. The other slight "handicap" (closely related to the previous one) is that, unlike my previous models (Xperia Z1, Z3C and Z5), the brightness settings are not adjustable. The other slight "handicap" (closely related to the previous one) is that, unlike my previous models (Xperia Z1, Z3C and Z5), the brightness settings are not saved and therefore have to be changed again each time the camera is turned off or in standby mode...
Finally, the autonomy is not better on this model. Nevertheless, it is good enough for me as it allows me to enjoy all the advantages of my phone for a day, knowing that it remains above the average of contemporary high-end mobiles.

This review was created for a different variant: Xperia XZ2 Compact (64 GB, White Silver, 5", Single SIM, 19 Mpx, 4G)
Replacement of my Z5
In comparison:
- Very fast
- Connection via BT is MUCH faster
- WiFi connects much faster when it detects a network
- GPS first fix is very fast
- Position of the fingerprint sensor takes some getting used to (found it better integrated in the power head)
- Unfortunately (again) bigger compared to the Z5
- Rounded design a bit 'slippery'.
