The RICOH WG series is characterised by its stability, and so water, dirt, sand or grime cannot harm the WG-70 either. The housing is waterproof to a depth of 10 metres and up to 2 hours, dustproof, pressureproof up to 100 kg, breakproof from a drop of up to 1.6 metres and frostproof to minus 10°C. This makes the WG-70 the perfect camera for any adventure. But inside the rough shell of the WG-70 is a highly sensitive and technically sophisticated interior. At its core is the 16-megapixel CMOS sensor with "Backside Illumination" technology. The backside mounted sensor provides high sensitivity up to ISO 6400 with low noise performance as well as fast readout of the image signal. In addition, the camera is equipped with excellent image processors to capture sharp noise-free images with high brilliance. Especially worth mentioning is the "Handheld Night Snap" mode, which generates a blur-free shot from several individual images.

More than 20 special shooting programs are available for different requirements. In addition to options e.g. for sports, night or macro shots, the camera automatically detects the right shooting situation and selects the exposure program accordingly. With the automatic face recognition, of up to 32 faces in just 0.03 seconds, it is even easier to take portraits or even selfies - a smile is enough and the camera triggers.Especially for underwater shots, shooting programs have been developed that compensate for the loss of red tones and contrast loss due to light scattering, among other things, to produce more brilliant, sharper and clearer images or videos.

With a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (16:9) in H.264 recording format at 30 frames per second, the WG-70 can also be used as an action cam at any time - whether on land or in water sports. Creative functions, such as slow motion or interval, expand the application possibilities of the video function. A micro HDMI connection enables image and sound transmission. In addition, it offers Movie SR (Shake Reduction) in underwater video mode to reduce the risk of camera shake. A movie editing function within the camera allows video to be shared or individual frames to be saved. You can play back movies on TVs and other devices via the camera's HDMI port (Type D).
