Sony E, full sizeProduct details
The 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art combines the sharp and fine rendering performance required for portrait photography with beautiful, rich bokeh effects that can only be achieved with large-diameter lenses like the F1.4, at a level that satisfies both professional and advanced amateur photographers. The 85mm focal length and significant bokeh effect at an aperture of F1.4 allow users to highlight their subjects in a complementary way, which is one of the essential prerequisites for portrait photography, enabling users to fully enjoy their work.
In addition to its fast and smooth autofocus response, the 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art features a lightweight and compact lens body thanks to its mirrorless, exclusive design, defying conventions. Its small body is packed with a range of functionalities, including a dust and splash-resistant structure, supported by excellent build quality. The 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is SIGMA's new "ultimate portrait lens" for the mirrorless era. With it, SIGMA offers a whole new world of possibilities, making this "85mm F1.4 lens for everyday use" exceptionally portable, free from size or weight constraints.

Despite minor weaknesses in the optics, the Sigma 1.4/85 mm DG DN Art achieves a "Super" seal of approval.
On both Panasonic and Sony, the standard focal length shows an unusually even image quality at all three measured apertures at the highest level. In the centre, the resolution increases from good to very good values as the aperture is stopped down. The contrast in the centre of the image behaves similarly...
Sigma has recalculated the fast 85 for the Sony A7 cameras and almost halved the weight to 625 grams. At open aperture, the resolution is good, but a few hundred line pairs away from the best. The contrast reaches top values, the edge drop remains low. Stopping down brings a good 100 LP, the contrast increases further, at the same time the edge drop drops further...

- The list price of the new Sigma is significantly lower than that of the competing lens from Sony's G-Master series, but it offers comparable performance.
- It is difficult to give a minus point for this lens. Even the price is not too high in view of the performance it offers.
The Sigma lens achieves very high performance and delivers beautiful images with excellent resolution in the focus area and a natural-looking bokeh representation in the subject background. Coupled with high build quality, light weight and a fair price, it is worth a real recommendation.
