Question about Creative Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus Hi-Res Gaming Sound Card / DAC - RGB, PCIe
According to the instructions, I have to connect the sound card to the front panel hd audio connector of the motherboard, but the cable is permanently connected to the housing. where can I get such a cable?
A Digitech technician only plugged in my card - the cable is not needed.
Hello, you only need the cable if you want to use the front panel, otherwise not.
I can't say exactly what the connection solution looks like in your PC. But it might be possible to disconnect the audio cable (from the front panel) from the motherboard and connect it to the sound card.
Unplug from the bottom left of the motherboard and plug into the back of the AE-5.
I don't use a front panel myself and don't have the Sound Blaster manual in front of me right now - but could it be that you have to unplug the cable (which comes from the front panel) at the MB and connect it to the SB. After all, you want to use the SB for the FP and not the "onboard sound card"...
