Yes, the hand scanner works perfectly on the Mac. The device is automatically recognised as a keyboard. If you select a text field, for example, and scan a code, the content of the code is written into the text field.
The device works perfectly for me: Simply plug it into the USB port and the setup is complete.

Rarely have I laughed so much. The scanner used the US keyboard drivers on the Mac. After several configuration attempts, it no longer scans at all, so I have no chance to set the settings to default. Throw it away or send it back is the only option, I decided on the latter.
The scanner is therefore NOT usable for Mac.
