Does anyone have the same problem? My licence plate is too narrow for the carrier, regardless of whether it is a regular white or red bike carrier plate. It is missing about 2-3cm. Any tips, hacks? I have helped myself with a piece of wood

Yes, I had the same problem. Depending on the number frame you want to fit, you can't get the number in or out. Hack was also to attach a piece of wood or plastic block behind the number frame.
I solved it with these interchangeable holders...https://www.galaxus.ch/de/s4/product/21cars-kennzeichenhalter-front-heck-hochformat-kennzeichenhalter-24500542. It's a bit of a fiddle to dismantle the number, but it works.
