BIC lighters are characterized by their oval shape, particularly robust quality, and unique safety guard that prevents children from playing with them. In terms of durability, the disposable lighter from the French traditional company makes a strong impression, averaging a total of 3,000 ignitions. Even with regular use, you can easily get by for several weeks.

The operation depends on which model you choose. There are three different versions: the flint lighter, the electronic lighter, and the multifunction lighter.

The Flint Lighter

This category includes the classic BIC Maxi lighter, the BIC Slim, and the BIC Mini. As the name suggests, the Slim is narrower than the original, and the Mini is shorter. However, the operation is the same for each model. Inside the plastic casing, there is a container for butane gas and a nozzle. When you press the red button on the lighter, the reduction valve at the top of the container opens. This causes the gas to escape under high pressure and mix with air, creating a combustible gas-air mixture.

This mixture now needs to be ignited. This is done using the flint and the flint wheel. A spring presses the flint against the flint wheel. When you pull the wheel down, it shaves off small pieces from the flint, creating sparks that ignite the gas-air mixture.
