Application:

The mating harness with splint-secured wax block is strapped to the ram's chest. The colour marking on the back of the dam allows the breeder to determine the lambing time or rate. One colour is used for each mating period because of the rebucking. The blocks are used because of the better contrast of the marking from light to dark.
