The Withings website says about the stethoscope:
"Detect heart valve disease
By placing the digital stethoscope against the chest during measurement, the highly sensitive sensor detects specific heart sound frequencies that correspond to the opening and closing of the heart valves.
Using these sounds, our proprietary artificial intelligence, developed by cardiologists and interspersed with thousands of real heart sounds, allows us to detect potential abnormalities, which in turn may indicate risk for the most common valvular heart diseases."
I have been proven to have a congenital heart defect (bicuspid aortic valve with aortic regurgitation). The resulting abnormal heart sounds are, according to my cardiologists, very audible. Because this makes me such a 'prime specimen', they repeatedly showed me to the doctors in training at the hospital. And indeed, everyone who listened to me with the stethoscope was always very enthusiastic.
And what does the Withings stethoscope show me? Everything NORMAL - everything in the GREEN RANGE. Where it should be at least an orange colour!
I've been on the subject with Withings support for days and only get standard advice on how to operate the device correctly (it's all on the website too), or I'm supposed to do a factory reset. All done as instructed - nothing helped. My heart valve abnormality is considered absolutely normal for the device.
Of course, it is clear that the device in no way replaces a visit to the doctor. After all, it says in the text on the website ".... So Withings can always talk itself out of it if the stethoscope is absolute rubbish.
I find it dangerous that really existing heart valve defects are not indicated. In my opinion, it should indicate too early rather than too late. Otherwise, many users think everything is normal and don't go to the doctor for clarification.
I must therefore very much doubt the usefulness of this AI stethoscope. It is probably just a kind of gimmick with dubious significance and nothing more.
This is the first Withings product that has disappointed me. (I still have 2 scales and 2 blood pressure monitors from this company - they are very good).

I really like the ease of use of the BPM Core, as well as the function with the Withings app.
Nothing to complain about. The device works perfectly. At first you need a little practice regarding heart rate values, i.e. the placement of the stethoscope, but when you have that exactly under control everything is perfect.
Pro
The device makes a trustworthy impression, and the measurement values very comprehensive. The pairing with the Withings app is easy. The handling during the "mounting" for the measurement on the upper arm is a bit awkward.
The operation must be repeated several times.
I wanted to change my old BPM Connect for this one because it fell into disrepair...
I regret my choice.
It's bulky, the microphone doesn't work well, impossible to find a position so that it listens properly to the heartbeat.
The Connect didn't do everything this one does but at least it did it well and it fit in a bag with me.
Anyway... Unless mine is having problems or I have a 20cm ribcage (am I a self-aware ninja turtle?) that prevents it from working, fall back on the smaller model which is more practical and has been my companion for many years
