Straighteners transform unruly, frizzy hair into smooth, silky shiny hairstyles. Hot ceramic plates pull the hair straight. Strand by strand. Stiftung Warentest tested seven frequently purchased hair straighteners. They cost between 17 and 64 euros. But if users use them on damp hair, use the straighteners too often or set the temperature too high, they damage the hair. Four appliances tamed manes well, but two straighteners tested did not pass the safety test.
