11 Toasters In The Test - Breakfast Heroes

Some prefer their toast crispy browned, others only lightly toasted. A good toaster can reliably deliver both. And it can also bake bread rolls or heat up croissants. It is therefore indispensable for a perfect breakfast and should therefore be present in almost every household. Basically, there doesn't seem to be much difference between the toasters that are currently available on the market. Most of them have two slots, into each of which a slice of toast can be inserted. The degree of browning can be adjusted individually and in most cases there is also a bun tray that is either permanently installed on the appliance or can be placed on top. However, a closer look reveals a number of differences and, above all, the practical test reveals that not all toasters are the same. In addition to the standard models, we also tested two long-slot toasters, the Classico T2 and Classico T4. In the latter, two toasts fit next to each other in the slot, and since the latter has two slots, there is even room for a total of four toasts in the appliance. Such a model should be particularly interesting for families or larger flat-sharing communities. The test candidates from AEG and Phillips are also striking. They have a cover that protects the toast tray from dust and dirt. On the one hand, this is very practical, especially if the appliance is not used for a long time. On the other hand, the cover lies around uselessly during use and can easily get lost. Another exclusively positive feature of the Phillips model is its environmental friendliness. The Eco Conscious Edition toaster is made of biobased plastic and can therefore also score points in terms of sustainability. Finally, the Tefal appliance has a special feature that catches the eye. This model comes with plastic tongs that can be attached to two sides of the toaster by means of magnetic adhesion. It can be used to remove the toast slices easily and safely. Unfortunately, the candidate from Tefal is also the only appliance that does not have a bun attachment.
