"Bikini Season" was your summer fragrance? Sol de Janeiro brings it back - but not in the way you think
The celebrated skincare brand Sol de Janeiro is heralding the comeback of the "bikini season". The once limited-edition body spray will soon be available again and is here to stay for the time being - albeit under the guise of a new identity.
When it comes to summer fragrances, Sol de Janeiro is a force to be reckoned with. The American body care brand, which is inspired by Brazilian beach culture, is currently dropping one body spray after another. This is no coincidence. The product category has experienced a immense boom in the last few years alone: The market tripled from 2022 to 2023, for example. Incidentally, the brand owes its fame to the "perfume department" of TikTok. Anyone who has been hanging around there in recent months will know the label primarily for its "Cheirosa 68" line. A collection of body lotion, body spray, deodorant and shower gel that all share the same fragrance. One that is traded as an affordable dupe to the luxury fragrance "Baccarat Rouge 540".
The new member of the Cheirosa family is not an extension of their successful line, but an old acquaintance. "Bikini Season" was one of three limited edition perfume mists last summer. It was so well received that Sol de Janeiro is welcoming it into its standard range this year - but under a different name and with a fresh coat of paint. The fragrance is now called "Cheirosa 48" and the once peach-coloured spray bottle now shines in neon pink. Incidentally, the term "cheirosa" is used in Brazil to describe someone as very fragrant.
"Cheirosa 48" is made from the following ingredients: Guava juice and coconut water in the top notes, sun orchid, lemon peel and wild iris in the heart notes and pink musk and vanilla in the base notes.
The body spray will be launched on 20 June 2024. It is not yet clear if and when it will be available here. <p
