The Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 50 series includes high-quality USB-A and USB-C drives that provide enterprise-level security with FIPS 197 certified AES-256-bit hardware encryption in XTS mode. It features safeguards against BadUSB with digitally signed firmware and against brute-force password attacks. The VP50 has undergone penetration testing for enterprise-level security. As these are encrypted storage devices under the physical control of the user, the VP50 series offers significantly better data protection than the internet or cloud services.

The Vault Privacy 50 supports a multi-password option (admin, user, and one-time recovery) with complex or passphrase modes. This allows for better recovery of data access if one of the passwords is forgotten. In the traditional complex mode, passwords can range from 6 to 16 characters using 3 out of 4 character sets.
