There is a pin that you have to plug in or not plug in. Have a look at the Nvidia website and the developer guide. There is a power selector pin that you have to bridge, depending on whether you want to operate it with DC or microUSB.

Getting started guide: https://developer.nvidia.com/embedded/learn/get-started-jetson-nano-devkit#
Here is the PDF: https://developer.download.nvidia.com/assets/embedded/secure/jetson/Nano/docs/NV_Jetson_Nano_Developer_Kit_User_Guide.pdf?VkWCBXWuNGHjFkSRswEMVL0MTtJtiOWurTTSmrpJ08iyoGwYf8rCwov9UBnngBCpSyMtKCc6Hyo7OQetX2ltO_1nICPkidlIbg1wk0efDQqMWAGbvvzdiYWQZL0v_pP5d4Unz--F7oLAoywIJoVtpPQKIVZsVt_uSt-Myx7cpPQhQyn3zgTXv6_-aEKM7yrrk2w=&t=eyJscyI6InJlZiIsImxzZCI6IlJFRi13d3cubnZpZGlhLmNvbS8ifQ==

On page 6 of the PDF you can see the J48 Power select pin, which must either be bridged or not, depending on how you want to operate the Jetson. The jumper pin should be present in the box, at least that was the case for me.

Hope that helps,
LG
