I don't know what to write, I'm blown away.... After my D7000 got on in years, I bought the D500. And hoblaschorsch, the camera can do something... (And I know that Snapbridge doesn't work yet, but it doesn't bother me in the least).

Thank you Digitec. The announced 4-6 weeks turned out to be just two. So today I was able to take the D500 with me to the first wedding as a second camera.
The device convinces in almost all points as expected. Top autofocus, a lot has changed since the last models. The pictures at high iso values are also impressive. For me, the folding display is also an absolute plus. AND, finally there are AF points again right up to the edge of the image. That was a real pain with the Nikon D610.
The speed (on XQD) is a drawback. The automatic display of the photos immediately after taking them takes a lot longer than usual. So far I've also had some difficulties reading the XQD card via the cable supplied (USB3). The copying of 1000 NEF photos has already been interrupted several times. I think I need another card reader.
And in my opinion, the camera (with Bluetooth switched off etc.) needs twice as much juice as, for example, the D610 with the same battery.
All in all, the D500 is absolutely convincing, I can only recommend it.
As a motorsport photographer, I find the DX cameras from Nikon great, you are a factor of 1.5 closer to the action. That's why I didn't switch to FX this time either, but stayed true to DX with the D500.
Absolutely top camera.

Super image quality, extremely fast - no more dropouts during continuous shooting due to overfilled buffer memory even with relatively "slow" 95MB/s SD cards. The advantages of full-frame for portrait and landscape photography are well known, but for action and sports in the telephoto range, the camera probably sets new standards.
If you're trying hard and absolutely want to find a deduction: I'd rather have two SD slots than 1xSD/1xXQD.
Top APS-C camera
Excellent alternative to the D5

I've had this box for 6 months and I'm delighted with it

excellent reflex for sport, wildlife, leisure. Very responsive in a compact, light (compared to the d850 etc..) and solid body.

Reliable device with top image quality. The only downside: no built-in flash.

Without alternative, the best camera for the DX format. Although the D7500 is newer, there are visible differences in image quality. The D500 is clearly ahead. Highly recommended for DX format photographers with multiple interchangeable lenses.

I have owned this camera for several years. I regularly follow Nikon releases, and so far, no camera has managed to make me drop this one!
I particularly appreciate the wide coverage of its AF points, which allow me to focus on almost the entire viewfinder!
I don't use the crazy frame rate (10 fps) much, but it's pretty impressive when you need it.
Sensitivity and noise management are particularly effective, and minimal processing in Lightroom allows you to shoot at night or in dark environments, without flash, with stunning results.
The only negative point would be the video, but I use a camera to take pictures, so I really have nothing to reproach this camera.
I am looking forward to an equivalent full frame camera!

Not called the "Baby D5" for nothing: Autofocus and processor are the same. VERY well suited for wildlife photography!

For me (as a complement to my full frame D810/D850 cameras) a top of the range device. It is extremely fast (best for sports or birds) and the crop factor in combination with my lenses is fantastic. Recommended. Purely from a camera specs point of view, I wouldn't swap it for the Z50.

Super camera with a sensor that beats the Nikon D7100 by a long way.
Focusing points across the whole viewfinder, excellent low light performance, ergonomically excellent. 👏
Speed was important to me (sports photos), and it is fast! Relatively heavy, but feels good in my hand. Also takes good photos in poor lighting conditions (but has no integrated flash).
The camera delivered was not usable. After several visits to the Nikon company, the camera was exchanged as a warranty case.
A professional housing with crop sensor. Since the measuring technology of the D5 is built in, the cam leaves nothing to be desired!

A great camera with tremendous functionality and beautiful image quality
Probably one of the best cameras currently available. Both in terms of workmanship and functionality, you can see the professional segment and Nikon's experience. Something that many other manufacturers still have to learn. Yes, the camera is bigger than most mirrorless cameras, but you can actually hold it comfortably in your hand for hours. It also doesn't break if you get it wet. All in all, a remarkable product at a proud but reasonable price.
