The 1.8/85 mm lens is already usable with an open aperture, with good resolution and contrast values in the centre of the image. The edge fall-off is also moderate - but there is still room for improvement. Aperture 3.5 then also brings an additional 100 LP and a plus in contrast, at the same time the relative edge contrast drops significantly...
Remarkable is the fully commendable resolution already from open aperture f/1.8. GM alternative!
