The MC220L is a media converter designed to convert 1000BASE-SX/LX/LH fibre media to 1000Base-T copper media or vice versa. The MC220L is designed according to the 1000Base-T standard (IEEE802.3ab) and
the 1000Base-SX/LX/LH standard (IEEE802.3z) and is intended for use with multimode/singlemode fibre cable and the SC/LC connector. It operates at 850nm for both transmitting and receiving data when using multimode fibre and 1310nm for both transmitting and receiving data when using singlemode fibre cable.
Other features of the module include: the ability to be used as a stand-alone unit (no enclosure is required) or with TP-LINK's 19-inch system enclosure, Auto-MDI/MDIX for the transmit port and status LED on the front panel. The MC220L transmits in Fibre Optic Long Distance mode using multimode fibre optic cable up to a distance of 550m and using single mode fibre optic cable up to a distance of 10km.
