I mean turning manually only once the full pile of pages, and using the automatic feeder.

Answer

I had a case where I had 3 double sided pages to scan, I made photo copies of the even pages, then scanned all 6 in a row.
This is the fastest solution I think, after that you can scan all the pages on one side and then on the other and sort them out and merge them back into the computer, to each his own.
